I am an urban economic geographer. I investigate (structural) drivers of economic urbanization processes and their social ramifications. In my research, I use a classical political economy approach and a macroeconomic interpretation of urban land rent theory to explain long-term (and turbulent) national intersectoral dynamics driving local investment choices in empirical studies on (economic) urbanization processes, spatial inequality, housing, national and municipal land policies, etc.
