Sarah Benabou is an anthropologist working at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), Paris. Her principal research interest is in the politics and social impacts of nature conservation in India, as part of a wider interest in the political economy of nature conservation. Besides her ethnographic work in Northern India (Nanda Devi biosphere reserve, Khasi Hills Redd+ project), she has been actively following the development of international expertise on biodiversity offsets, as well as the involvement of business in biodiversity (Rio 2012) and climate COPs (Paris 2015).
